Protecting Southern Boobooks.  A large number of Southern Boobooks have been very vocal in the suburb of Mundingburra (particularly around Cathedral School). They are probably chasing Ratus ratus, which have increased significantly in numbers recently. It's great to see and hear owls in suburbia, but also causes concerns about the use of rat bait and the risk of secondary poisoning. I strongly recommend use of rat traps instead of baits to minimise risks to our nocturnal friends.
