Did you know? According to Neville Cayley's What Bird IsThat (5th Edition revised) regarding the Indian Myna:
"This semi domesticated bird appears to have been introduced into Victoria in 1862 and later. It soon became established in Melbourne and in 1883 considerable numbers were collected there and liberated in North Queensland, chiefly at Townsville and the Herbert and Johnstone Rivers; the idea was to provide a check on grasshoppers and cane-beetles."
Like the introduction of the Cane Toad for the same purpose it was a failure and a disaster!
